Resembling a gigantic dragon, The Great Wall of China, stretches up to approximately 6,700 Kilometers from the Eastern China to Western China . History Of The Great Wall Of China
The history of the Great Wall of China dates back to the 7th century B.C. when China was still fragmented into small pieces. Unification of China led to the rule Qin Dynasty on China and also saw the linking of the walls of the three states in the north. Thus was created the first "Wan Li Chang Cheng" or in other words "ten thousand li Great Wall of China ". This began the extension, rebuilding and modification of the Great Wall of China for over 2,000 years. Mostly the Great Wall of China was built during the Ming Dynasty.
The material used for the construction of the wall usually contained earth and stones, while many dynasties also used other material like sand and crushed stones filled with the layers of reeds.
Sections Of The Wall In Different Parts
The Great Wall of China starts from the Shanhaiguan Pass in the east of China to Jiayuguan Pass in the west traversing provinces of Liaoning, Hebei, Beijing, Tianjin, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia, Shaanxi and Gansu. Without having any branches, the wall simply extends for about 4,160 miles or 6,700 kilometers, often covering hills and mountains across the Chinese countryside.

Radar images of the Great Wall of China from Nasa reveal two segments of the Great Wall Of China in a desert area in the west of Beijing. The wall emerges as a thin orange band, running from the top to the bottom of the left image and the middle upper-left to the lower right of the right image. This particular section of the wall was built by the Ming dynasty in the 15th century and the length of this section of the wall lies between 5 to 8 meters.
